Product Review - Flat Out Flatbread (Light Original)

I was excited to try Flat Out Flatbread. Only 3 points each and I read somewhere I could make a pizza out of it! YAHOO, right?

For me, not so much. In my best approximation, I feel like the flatbread itself tasted like cardboard, which had been made from dirt. Look, I know it's all whole-grainy, low Weight Watchers-pointy, and low-carby, but holy crap. Despite the fact that it was only 3 points per generous piece (and just 6 points for the cheese pizza I made with it), I would much rather cut a burrito size tortilla in half and use that for the same amount of points. I made one of these little pizzas for me using the Flat Out bread and one for my husband using the tortilla. Needless to say his looked (and tasted) MUCH better.

Every time I took a bite, I would have to sort of fold it over in my mouth so none of the flatbread was exposed to my offended taste buds.

I was really and truly excited about this product, and maybe I just need to try another variety (they have a ton of varieties to choose from and they're all reasonably priced), but this one was a big fat thumbs down for me. It leads me to wonder if my taste for whole-grain-tasting stuff will develop with the more fat I lose. I'll keep you all posted. Because I'm sure you're on the edge of your seat waiting for THAT information.

  1. LOL, I hate when you go and try something that you're pretty sure will be good, only to find it tastes like cardboard. Thanks for the review - cheers!

  2. Aww I totally love those! I think it's because I like the texture more than plain tortillas. I've never made a pizza with one (maybe the heat affects it a little?) but wrap sandwiches are pretty good!

  3. Well I have 4 more left, so I'll have to try one as a sandwich!

  4. Bummer, I haven't tried those yet!
For me, I cannot get past canadian bacon...
    Keep up your great work!

  5. I love flat outs - especially the spinach ones and the tomato ones. If you're making a pizza with them, you have to only use a little bit of sauce and put them in the oven. The microwave makes them gooey. My fave with them is an egg breakfast burrito with egg beaters and a wedge of laughing cow cheese and then whatever veggies I decide to throw in. Yummy!

  6. Hi, I'm back again, I have an award for you over on my blog! Please come by and check it out :)

  7. I LOVE THESE!!! So does my husband! We use them for Pizza,sandwiches.. we roll just about anything up in them. Every day for lunch. I spread a grainy mustard on the one you have pictured. Lay out then sliced turkey breast. Provolone cheese and Romaaine lettuce. Then I roll it up. It's 240 calories and then I have some cottage cheese! YUMMY!!

    For a pizza..
I will take 1 TBS olive oil and brush it on
slice tomatoes, mushrooms top with mozzerela and ricotta. Here is the link to my blog where I made the pizza..

  8. I am clearly in the minority when it comes to these! I will try some of the things you all suggested in an effort to save my $2.58 or whatever it was that the package cost!

    Thanks for the tips, guys!

  9. Colleen - have you tried the LaTortilla Factory tortillas? I make pizzas on them and they're delicious! Not sure what they are on the new WW program as I have not bought them since it started...but on the old program there was one I would buy that was 1 point and it was HUGE...even if it's tripple the points now, it'd be worth it.

Thanks so much for visiting my blog. Check me out on Twitter (@OnwardColleen) and come back often! As always - feel free to email me any time!
