Weekly Weigh In for 04/23/2012

Last week was pretty good.  I started running as mentioned before and obviously it did not make me keel over.  I'm enjoying it again and am even going to sign up for another 5k, this time shooting to better my first time of 39:45.  But enough of the shenanigans!  On to yesterday's weigh in!

Total Loss Since 4/2/2012:   --- None (still recovering from that vacation gain)


So things are good!  I'm watching what I'm eating more but still not following a certain "plan."  That will come.  Right now I'm focused on getting an exercise routine going and making it a habit.  I feel good.  My knee's not bothering me and My run times are increasing.  I've already shaved a minute off my benchmark mile time from the first day of running club.  That's not bad for just a little over a week.

A Very, Very Late Weigh In, and Update

So, my "first" weigh in was April 2.  This is April 19. I'm no math whiz, but I'm pretty sure I missed 2 weigh in's there.

The first WI I missed was April 9.  We took off at 6am that day on vacation, so I (honestly) forgot to weigh in before leaving.  I actually did weigh in on April 16 but didn't post it.  So here's the not-so skinny on how the past 2 weeks have gone.

Loss:   --- (Gain) + 5.2
Total Loss Since 4/2/2012:   --- None


So what happened?  I took a vacation.  I ate whatever my heart desired.  I did not count calories.  I did not limit myself.  And honestly, the wings, pizza and beer were DELICIOUS. I didn't exercise.  I didn't even walk other than through the Baseball Hall of Fame and a Children's Museum.  But I had fun.  I saw my sister.  I'm happy with that week, gain be damned.


This week has been different.  I've been a more restrictive on what I've eaten.  I've (MOSTLY) stayed out of the leftover Easter candy.  I've cut down on the beer, too.  Also, I joined a local running club and am running again.  After getting over the initial shock to moving my ass again, I'm REALLY enjoying it.  It is so......LIBERATING!

Today is Day 1 - A Weigh In Day

I have spent the better part of the last...oh...let's say six months floundering.  Beating myself up over being off the wagon and how little self-control I have and blah blah blah freaking blah.  Have I gained back some of what I lost?  Yes.  Do I love that?  No sir, I do not.

But you know what?  I just can't obsess over it anymore.  I can't stress myself about it anymore.

That's why today is Clean Slate Day.  It's Day 1.

I'm starting over.  I'm finding a balance between "I could care less about what I eat or the quantity I eat" and "Calorie Nazi."  Both those people make me miserable.  I must find balance and today is the day I embark on a quest to seek that balance.

I want to be accountable, yes.  Of course I do.  But finding the balance begins today for me with awareness.  More of my why than my what. 

So here are what Mondays are going to look like around here for a while.  The Weigh In, good or bad.  I will do my best to post it every week.  No seriously, I totally will.

I will talk about my struggles, my stengths and the moments that make up the story of a person's weight loss. 

I tell ya what folks.  I'm ready to kick 2012 in the ass and I may not do it all at once, but oh yes....it will be done.  It may not won't be perfect.  And it may not be pretty.  But I'll do it.  And I'll learn a lot along the way.
